Burlwick & Co.

Big brand impact for a small furniture store / interior design studio.

The brief

A brand new store has opened in Findlay, Ohio spun out of an existing interior design studio, with new brand life applied to it’s growing service line. Burlwick is a marriage of the interior design and construction background of a husband and wife team that’s been years in the making. Realizing that the town had very few high end design options, Burlwick decided to open a retail space that is part showroom, part interior design firm, and part social space. Our role was to put together a strategic brand that married these together in visual form that speaks to the higher end furniture / environmental market.

Our approach

We started by looking at historical documents as well as overall vibes within the wood world to craft the Burlwick name as the first bit of the branding journey. From there we ideated on the brand system that is approachable and clean, while having a sense of 'hip homeyness.'

The space itself is a wonderful mixture of eclectic furnishings that bring a fresh sense of what home can be.

Updated Brand & Design System

A delicate system of type and color, we've honed our design system to be approachable by everyone, but geared toward less of a mass-market brand, to something that is memorable and desirable.

the result

We started with the goal of having a unique inviting brand that drew customers in from around the surrounding area. The many social events and gatherings at Burlwick has now become a staple in the community and holds a strong visual weight among the other stores along Main Street. We're thrilled with the results and if you're in the market for furniture, give them a call, they'd be happy to help.

“The brand had to allude to high style with a hint of manliness but not be untouchable.  We craved nostalgia, quality, and character.  The brand package that UnitOneNine delivered was exactly that.  Now after 2 years into this new expansion, our store and processes have evolved, and our brand has proven to be a steady foundation of who we are and where we are going.”
